Fumunda was formed with the express intent to produce high quality, reliable commercial fishing products. We have been developing innovative commercial fishing products for over a decade and today Fumunda is widely recognised as the world leader in the design and manufacture of marine mammal acoustic alarm devices commonly known as "Pingers".
Pingers are widely used in the commercial fishing industry in an effort to mitigate the incidental entanglement of Porpoises, Dolphins and Whales (cetaceans) in fishing nets.
Pingers reduce damage to fishing gear caused by cetacean entanglements and help reduce the loss of fish caught in nets due to predatory behaviour.
Fumunda's collaborative relationship with commercial fishermen ensures our products are designed to meet the extreme conditions experienced in the fishing industry.
Fishermen's participation in the design process emphasizes the importance of durability, cost effectiveness and ease of use.

NEW ZEALAND CONFERENCE
James Turner is currently attending the New Zealand Federation of Commercial Fishermen Conference in Timaru on New Zealands South Island. The conference is being attended by commercial fishers, Fishing association representatives and Government representatives including the Hon. David Carter, Minister for Primary Industries. Discussion topics include the challenges the New Zealand commercial fishing industry is facing in relation to the bycatch of Maui's and Hector's Dolphins and the role Pingers play in helping reduce the bycatch problem.

FUMUNDA SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY PANEL
We are pleased to announce the establishment of the Fumunda Scientific Advisory Panel. The panel members include Dr. Scott Kraus, Dr. Vic Peddemors, Dr. Simon Northridge and Dr. Stefan Brager.
